ScienceSnaps – making science sound
different!
ScienceSnaps is an exciting opportunity to get
inside the world of podcasting and science radio broadcasting.
We're looking for enthusiastic people in North East Scotland
to develop and present ScienceSnaps on the radio and the internet.
If you use science or engineering in your work, have a science/
engineering degree or have a particular interest in a scientific
topic you might be who we're looking for. We need people who
are serious about science, but not necessarily serious about
life! We
want to put the kilt on science podcasting!
We
also want to find the"sounds of science" to make
ScienceSnaps a bit different from the usual science stories
you might have heard before. Does your area of science or engineering
have a distinctive “audio fingerprint” for, or
do you hear odd and interesting sounds around you at work (excluding
the less savoury sounds of your colleagues)?
In November 2006 we will be selecting seven people to develop
and record ScienceSnaps. The successful seven will get training
in how to communicate their message to a selected audience,
write scripts and produce podcasts. We'll even pay you £250
for the privilege! We'll also be producing short radio “snaps” on
your chosen subject, which will be broadcast on Northsound
Radio (One and Two) during National Science and Engineering
Week 2007.
Interested in taking part?
Why not register an interest and we'll take it from there.
Who are we?
ScienceSnaps is a partnership between The
BA Aberdeen Branch,
The Rowett Institute and Walking-the-Talk.
We are working together to make science sound different.
We have successfully bid for a grant from the Scottish
Executive to create ScienceSnaps
for National Science and Engineering Week 2007.
Haven't I seen this somewhere before?
ScienceSnaps was first developed in 2005 by the BA Aberdeen
Branch and organised by the Rowett Institute. |
